PM OF Pakistan opens web portal because of COVID-19 for the unemployed. Under the 'second step' of the Ehsaas Cash Initiative, Premier Imran Khan has launched a web portal to help people who have lost their jobs due to the novel coronavirus.
Talking at a Saturday ceremony in Islamabad, the Premier said that everyone who has recently been unemployed due to the pandemic should "visit the website and register themselves"
People can visit the portal here: https://ehsaaslabour.nadra.gov.pk/ehsaas/. However, the prime minister pointed out that those who register would be expected to provide evidence that they were employed at an organization.
The NADRA database will then screen all registered users. "Whoever qualifies will get their cash transferred," assured PM Khan.
The Prime Minister thanked all the people who contributed to the Coronavirus Fund of the Prime Minister and explained that he was "monitoring his accountability process personally."
The specifics of all such donations will be made publicly available in a report, he reiterated, adding that the funds are distributed through a "transparent scheme."
PM Khan also remarked that the Ehsaas Programme is being run on merit and was void of any political affiliations. “So far, Rs81 billion have been distributed among 6.8 million needy families across the country under it.”
He added that even countries, such as New York which were greatly affected by this virus, considered loosening their locks because of "adverse economic consequences."
"We are also supplying the building industry with opportunities to help the regular wagers and provide them with livelihoods," stated the Prime Minister.
The government has sought to reduce the public burden by saying that the decline in oil prices is a positive example.
PM khan also said that the price of gasoline decreased by Rs30/liter over the past month with the cost of diesel fuel by Rs42/liter.
“We don’t know how long this pandemic will last for, but we know for sure that it is here for the next six months,” he said. “To fight this, it’s important that the public takes the responsibility of themselves and the people around them and work with the government.”
He urged people to isolate themselves from society and take sufficient precautions against the virus. "We know that the more people pick, the more likely they are to get the virus, so we need discipline."
PM Khan praised and thanked the nation for its support during these critical times and said that he was looking forward to it in the future as well.
